Brick-stone production is a major business in the North-West Frontier Province, Pakistan.
Child labour is a common problem in developing countries and rampant in this industry.
The Kilns are fired by wood and tire scrap but these fuels are a major health hazard when burned. Furthermore, the required lumber contributes to erosion and the partly illegal imports of wood from neighboring Afghanistan help to continue the armed conflict there.
